2 New Videos from Kooley High

Shoutouts to the homies Kooley High for dropping a couple new videos over the last few weeks. Visually, both of them are dope, and they are highlighting joints off their newly Fat Beats-endorsed album Eastern Standard Time. So if you are feeling these joints, make sure you go cop EST!

Sha Stimuli – Wake Up & Go (Music Video)

Shouts to the homies Sha Stimuli & RH Bless in connecting for the newest video from Sha’s extensive catalog. This joint plays out like a movie with it’s crazy visuals and storyline. Then factor in Sha’s crazy lyricism, and it’s a wrap. I had the privilege of meeting Sha down in Atlanta at the A3C Fest, and dude has one of the livest shows of any hip hop artist out right now. RH Bless, who is also a talented emcee on top of doing his video production thing, is peeps with my peoples ROCCA & X3M. So stay on the lookout for both of these titans, as they continue to do big things in 2011…

King Mez – Nightmares (prod. by Khrysis) – Video

Super shoutouts to King Mez for his new video, Nightmares. This joint is from his upcoming project, The King’s Khrysis, which is being produced by famed NC producer, Khrysis. They are releasing this EP this Sunday, which coincides with Mez’s appearance on MTV’s Sucka Free Sunday. You can also catch Mez in Chapel Hill’s stop of Poe Mack’s ShoeString Budget Tour(Sat. March 12). I will also be performing at the event, with a rack of dope NC artists. It’s shaping up to be a monster year for NC’s prodigy, so keep your eyes and ears open for King Mez…

Foreign Exchange – Authenticity (Video)

Shoutouts to NC alt-Soul group Foreign Exchange, for the release of one of the best conceptual videos I have seen all year. FE has been on a tear since their Grammy nomination last year, and this video further cements their place in the upper echelon of today’s R&B acts. If you missed their private show in Durham last night, then make sure you check out the video & purchase Authenticity on iTunes…

S. Gold – Lonely Girl (Video)

Shouts to my homie, Goldie aka S.Gold, on the release of the first official video from his album, The Forecast. Reks – 25th Hour (Music Video/Download)

Wow. That’s all I could muster up when I finally heard this joint a couple nights ago. I had seen Reks name floating around for awhile, but I hadn’t taken time out to actually listen to his music. So when the homie Juan, of JMProductions, pulled it up, I was floored. Not only does this song epitomize the sound that most hip hop aficionados long for, but it was produced by the legend, DJ Premier himself. So make sure you check out the video & even download the song for FREE here…

Talib Kweli – I’m On One (Video)

Be sure to check out this new joint from Talib Kweli, produced by NC’s own, Khrysis. This is the first leak off of Kweli’s upcoming project, Gutter Rainbows, which is to be released next week.

I remember the first time I saw Kweli live. It was in Greenville, at the legendary Attic, and there was probably 50-75 people there. The year after that, he released Quality, & he was back in G-Vegas opening up for Fabolous in front of a couple thousand kids in Minges Basketball arena. What a difference a year makes. Haha…

Tab-One – Tell Us The Truth (Video)

Shouts to the homie Tab for this new video they put together during the blizzard  couple weeks back. This joint came from his critically-acclaimed project, Tabloids, that came out in 09.” Make sure you peep the video, and check out http://www.kooleyhigh.com for more music & updates…

Chadillac – The Heat (Music Video)

Make sure you get really stoned before you check this one, and get ready to go on a trip from DC back to NC while you watch this one. & shoutouts to my homie Dave F. for putting me on to Chadillac a few years back when he was first starting out. Murs & Terrace Martin – On Melrose (Video)

Anybody who has any knowledge about the NC Hip Hop scene knows that Murs is our indirect cousin. After putting out multiple albums with 9th Wonder, including Murray’s Revenge(my favorite), Murs has long been a staple in what’s bubbling in NC. I have had the opportunity to meet him at a few events, and dude is always humble and gracious, and he puts on one of the best live shows of any Hip Hop artists out now. With that being said, 2009-10 was supposed to be a huge time for Murs as he said he was set to release an album a month. Since those plans didn’t transpire quite as he had hoped, I guess we will find some of these missing releases in 2011. “On Melrose” is the first release from the project he has cooked up with Terrace Martin. Here is some more info:

Dedicated to Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. The first video from Murs and Terrace’s forthcoming collaboration album Melrose, dropping February 8 on mursworld.com. Murs and Terrace first worked together on Murs’ 2008 Warner Bros debut Murs For President. “That album was so serious and such an intense process for the both of us, and we just wanted to do something fun and different,” he says. “And as different as we are from one another, we found a common ground in music and women. Add that to the fact we had both just broke up with our longtime girlfriends and were wilding out. So we definitely had a lot material and real life experience to draw from.”

So check out the video, and pick up the album when it drops next month. I know I am…

Big Hop & H2OKZ – Ridin’ On That Wave(ECU Tribute) Video

I put this video montage together a little while back. It features random footage from various East Carolina University tailgates. If anyone reading this has ever been to Greenville for a football game, then they will tell you that making it in to the game is optional, however, getting crunk at the tailgate is a necessity. Check out and enjoy the college drunkeness. Local Celebrity Status is available for FREE download here…

Winston-Salem Tour Footage

Check out this short doc put together about our show in Winston-Salem last month with Scottie Flippen. It was filmed and edited by Herb Skee of Da Tandem Productions. Shoutouts to everyone who made the trip and performed that night. It was dope…

My 3 Favorite Songs of 2010

For awhile now, I have been putting together some type of lists for Best Albums/Mixtapes/Songs of the Year. But over the last few, lists like that are getting more & more trendy, and less & less relevant. So instead this year, I decided to make it simple on you and say that Big K.R.I.T. – Krit Wuz Here was the best release of the year, hands down. I am still not sure if it was a mixtape or album, but either way, I thought the production and songwriting on that joint stood above the rest. With that being said, I guess you can name my favorite song of the year to be, “Country Sh*t.” I remember when I first heard this track, the feeling I got. I immediately knew it was a special song(even though NYC booed him when he performed it there, hahaha).

Next up, I gotta go with the homie Freddie Gibbs. This dude is straight gangsta. Haha. He gets it in though. His verses are always dope and he has a good ear for beats and rhythm. If you don’t believe me check out this heater from Str8 Killa, No Filla

Lastly, I am going with a joint that kinda surprised me at first. The reason that it did is because I thought it was a local song the first time I heard it. That’s because Mickey Factz went and recorded multiple versions to go with DJ’s all over the country. Pretty good idea, if I do say so myself. This beat is just so crazy. I have never heard anything like it. Check it out…

Really, I think all 3 of these songs are dope, and it’s difficult to put one above the other. 2010 was a pretty good year for music. I hope that trend continues into 2011…

Big Hop – I Changed My Life (Video)

This video marked a special day for me. It was the first time I put together a video in HD for myself. My homie Herb Skee of Da Tandem filmed it, and I edited it. It did fairly well online and we got a lot of good feedback. Shoutouts to everyone in Greenville who let us film in their locations(East Coast Music & Video/Rehab Bar). We actually weren’t sure what song we were gonna shoot the video right up until we shot it. So for the lack of preparation, I think it turned out great. Haha. Make sure you check it out and rate it, leave commments, and enjoy…

Fat Rat Da Czar – The Invitation (prod. by MidiMarc) Video

Shoutout to the homie, MidiMarc. This cat has been bubbling under the surface for quite sometime, but it won’t be for much longer before this SC producer gets his due shine. I had the honor of recording to one of his beats a couple years ago, and I am counting down the days until I get to do it again. Fat Rat Da Czar and Marc have been working together for a few, and recently released this new video for The Invitation. Make sure you check it out and support good Hip Hop…

Sha Stimuli – Promo for Unsung Vol. 1: The Garden of Eden

Shoutout to Sha for this dope promo for his new project, Unsung Vol.1: The Garden of Eden which dropped Digitally today. I got to chop it up with this cat a couple months back in ATL, and dude is as humble as he is talented. So make sure you check out the video, then go cop the new release from one of the hardest working emcees doing it…

Murs & 9th Wonder – I Used to Love H.e.r. (Again)

Murs & 9th Wonder have proven to be a formidable duo. They have released a handful of albums over the last few years, and each one seems to get better & better. Check out this video form their last offering. It’s a remake of Common’s classic. Dope visuals and  dope rhymes…what else could you want?!?

K-Hill – Millions (Prod. by Picasso) Video

Shoutout to K-Hill for this joint. I had the honor of editing it, and I really think it came out dope. Look for all the NC Hip Hop artists cameos at the club shot, that ish is bonkers. & shouts to Picasso for hitting K off with such a banger of a beat. Achilles Hill out soon…
