I am opening up for Big K.R.I.T. & Freddie Gibbs at the Soapbox in Wilmington, NC TONIGHT!
If you have hung out with me for more than an extended period of time in the last year, ans we began discussing the “new” school of up & coming hip hop artists, two names easily came to mind. Big K.R.I.T., the Def Jam signee from Mississippi whose mixtape, KRIT Wuz Here, was the best project I heard released last year, and Freddie Gibbs, the gangsta ass muhfucka from Gary, Indiana, who recently signed to Young Jeezy’s CTE. Both of these artist possess the grit and lyricism that I crave when looking for new artists. So when I heard they were touring together, I made it a point to make sure I could be in attendance. It wasn’t until recently that I was blessed with the opportunity to actually open up for them. So thank you to Louis T & County Lines Clothing, and the Soapbox for making it happen. Pick up tickets here. Promote it on facebook here. THANKS.

This is my first time performing in the 252 since a couple gigs last fall, and I am eager to get back to Pirate Country. G-Vegas always looked out for me in the past, so I am set to tear the roof off that biotch tonight. As normal for my shows down there, I am sharing the stage with H2OKZ & DJ Brillowhead. Also, Lamont Coal will be blessing everyone with his creativeness, performing beats and sequencing live, while bringing out NCHipHop monsters, K-Hill & J Capri. So make sure you come out and support a dope show with a dope lineup. It’s Greenville, so there will be insane drink specials and lots of women. Catch me on stage around midnight. See you there…
Chapel Hill is the spot to be at tonight….
Whoa. After the last two days of UNC basketball, I think it’s about time everybody exhales(after inhaling, of course), and enjoys life for a little bit. & where else better to do that then in the heart of Tar Heel country, itself. Chapel Hill is the move tonight if you are looking for a good hip hop event. Some of the state’s finest emcees will be in the building to put on a show that will leave you gasping for air. King Mez, fresh off of his first MTV appearance and the release of The King’s Khrysis, will be holding it down. 9th Wonder, and Kooley High prized pupil, Rapsody will be doing her usual murderous microphone routine, Lazurus, Poe Mack, IllPo, and others will also be out repping for NC. Lastly, I will be there doing my usual 2 step on stage. So if you want to get out and celebrate tonight, do it in a smart manner….WITH US! Come tru. Jack Sprat. Show starts at 10p…

Tonight is set to be crazy with Colour Culture, a crew of artists who come from various countries around the world, FineArts, who have ties to Philly, VA, and other spots, Roanoke VA’s Poe Mack, & yours truly(only god knows what area I am repping these daze, hahaha). The event is being hosted by AYPMedia’s The Original Mr. Neva Dedd, & you know how he brings out a good crowd. I am bringing the homie, H2OKZ down to rock with me, so on the whole, this is a show that you won’t want to miss. Shouts again to all my #910 people who are coming out tonight. Can’t wait to see everyone. 16 Taps, 11pm. Be there…
I am Performing Tonight in Roanoke VA…
Tonight is shaping up to be a crazy night. Besides such VA/NC artists, Poe Mack, Bo Jankans, Lazurus, and more, you have Rapper Big Pooh of the legendary, Little Brother, that will be rocking the stage. You can’t put a value on the motivation that LB has provided any true school fan, especially artists from NC. At Awful Arthur’s this evening, Pooh will be joined by HOJ teammate, Chaundon. The show starts at 10pm, sharp, and if you are under 21, you need to be there by then, to assure that you can get in. DJ Van Gundy is on the wheels, so you can expect a lot of wit on his end. Hahaha. But if you are in a 100 mile radius of the 540 tonight, you have no excuse as to where else you should be. Come rock with us, and have a great time, listening to great music…
Flyer design by me, ho…

Review & Video from the Move Mountains Release Party
Shout to Poe Mack for the release of his new KevinNottingham.com sponsored project, Move Mountains. Like many of y’all know, we celebrated the release with a show in Raleigh a few weeks ago. From that show came a dope review and video of my performance, shot by Kris of Oktobervision(www.youtube.com/oktobervision). Here are some of the kind words written about my performance from HypeNC.com & Ty Bru:
Third on the all-star lineup was well respected NC veteran and crowd pleaser, Big Hop, who is the true definition of an M.C. any way you look at it; a microphone controller, master of ceremonies, a mover of crowds, music commentator…he is all of that.
Hop’s set highlighted a few tracks from his“Everything Is Impossible” project, which is a collaborative effort with the hard-hitting Serbian producer, X3M.
On the track “I Don’t Make Sense,” Hop forfeited a performance verse to bring up another well respected and multi-talented emcee/musician Ignite Mindz in order to hit the audience with another completely original NC hip-hop flavor, which was an added bonus to an already stellar night.
Hop also dropped his crowd-catching favorite “I Love The 80’s” single, in which the entire track was purposely laced with countless references to sitcoms from that time period.
Prior to the start of the song, Hop invited the crowd to count the number of these references. If they got the answer correct, he would buy five drinks for them. No one could keep up. Perfect concept, perfect execution and above all, perfect bait for the next Big Hop performance.
Peace to Ty for writing such a kind words, as well as joining me on stage for a quick collaboration of the minds. If you want to read the rest of the interview, check it out at http://hypenc.com/2010/2011/01/25/move-mountains-release-party/.
& make sure you check out the video from the show:
Days 3: Old Hearts For New Lungs Benefit Concert Series
Once again, supershoutouts to Adam Rottin for throwing this string of events to help 14 year-old, Corey Gradin, raise money for her double lung transplant. Unfortunately, due to work, I am not going to be able to make it down to Raleigh to participate in the festivities, but I know my brethren will hold it down in my place.
Tonight’s show is at the Brewery and it features COOL KID COLLECTIVE, A TIND JINN, 1100 HUNTAZ, KNOCK OUT ROSES, DJ NONE ONE & 2PERCENT. It’s hosted by Rottin himself, and it’s going to be a marvelous time. So make sure you check it out tonight at the Brewery on Hillsborough St…
Big Hop + DJ FM
Shoutouts to all the Drum-n-Bass heads out there. I was very green to the scene when I met DJ Fm. Like Chadillac, I was introduced to FM through a mutual friend, Dave F. Dave brought FM to a show of mine at the Berkeley Cafe, and we instantly bonded through our love of music. That night he said he wanted to send me some songs to see if I could lay some vocals over top of them. Within a day or so, the first song was written, and Influenced was born. The 4 song EP features some of my favorite music I have ever written. Experimenting with a different genre of music allowed me to have fun and be creative with the songwriting, and I think the final product proves that.

S.B.A. – Dreams feat S.Gold & Big Hop
Check out this dope collabo joint I was asked to bless a little while back by Shadowstar Boxing Academy. S.B.A. is a dope group outta the Triangle with a super dope producer, M Theory. We performed together at the 4/20 show last year, and they are sick live, bringing in live instrumentation to compliment their sound. I’m not quite sure what project this song is going to end up on, but check it out and leave a comment…
