Wow. That’s all I could muster up when I finally heard this joint a couple nights ago. I had seen Reks name floating around for awhile, but I hadn’t taken time out to actually listen to his music. So when the homie Juan, of JMProductions, pulled it up, I was floored. Not only does this song epitomize the sound that most hip hop aficionados long for, but it was produced by the legend, DJ Premier himself. Shoutouts to my brothers, MindsOne, for being recognized by DJ Premier as having one of the best albums of 2010. Even though they didn’t make the top 25, being listed in the Honorable Mention list, with artists such as, Eminem, Reflection Eternal, Homeboy Sandman & others is truly a great accomplishment.

K. Hill Performs “Kick In The Door”
If you were at the Cats Cradle the night this video was taken, you know exactly how lucky you were. 9th Wonder brought both Dj Premier & Pete Rock to NC for this monumental night. They both sat onstage as various performers cycled back and forth between classics from the two producers. If that wasn’t enough, the performers were also backed by the Apple Juice Kid and his band, the Remix Project. K. Hill literally kicked in the door of the evening with this Biggie classic. Another highlight about this video, is that this was my first of anything, video or music, to get posted on some of the major blogs. & the footage came from my Flip camera! Haha.
